Lisa is one of the British women thriving on the legacy of double Olympic middle-distance star Dame Kelly Holmes.

After finishing fourth in the 1500m at the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008, she showed her outstanding ability to win silver at the World Championships in Berlin last summer.

She is based at UK Athletics High Performance Centre at Loughborough University where she is coached by George Gandy. Her progress to this level is no surprise because it is a gradual climb from her glory as a junior where she won AAA and English Schools title on the track.

In December 2009 she married her long-time partner Ricky Soos, a British 800m runner, and she had big hopes for 2010. But consistent injury put pay to her plans for glory. She was fourth in the 1500m at the European Championships in Barcelona in July with the lack of races proving key, before missing the defence of her 1500m Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.

She has entered the 2011 summer season with fresh resolve even though she has been troubled by a back injury and at the Diamond League in Rome, was 10th in the 800m in 4:06.35, her fastest opening to a season.
