Twelve months after disappointment at the Olympic Games in Beijing, total delight for the Commonwealth 1500m champion who showed her outstanding quality by winning silver at this year's World Championships in Berlin. Dobriskey finished an agonising fourth in the Olympic final and her reaction was succinct as she said it could either make or break a person.
The answer was emphatic with the greatest performance of her career in Berlin as she showed she has become a real force for London 2012. She has one of the most powerful finishing kicks in the event, and is now a major gold medal for the London Olympics.
Based at UK Athletics' High Performance Centre at Loughborough University, she is coached by the experienced George Gandy, who used to guide Lord Coe, Britain's double Olympic 1500m champion.
Her progress to this level is no surprise because it is a gradual climb from her success as a junior where she won the AAA and English Schools title on the track. But it was at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne in 2006 where she announced herself on the world stage.
She knows the importance National Lottery players have made to her: "If I had a message for those that play The National Lottery, I have to say a huge 'thank you'."
