  • (E) The National Lottery Daily Play Game - Approximate Odds of Winning and Prize Structure

    • (1) The following table sets out the probability of winning and, subject to paragraph (2) below, the allocation of Prizes.

Prize Categories Approximate Odds of Winning per £1 Entry Prize (subject to paragraph (2) below)
      Match 7 1:888,030.0 £30,000
      Match 6 1:6,343.1 £300
      Match 5 1:222.6 £30
      Match 4 1:22.3 £5
Match 0 1:11.5 Daily Play Token
      Any Prize 1:7.4
    • (2)(a) If:
      • (i) the total value of Prizes otherwise payable in respect of a Draw exceeds 300% of the total value of the sale of Entries for and in respect of that Draw ('Draw Ticket Sales'); and
      • (ii) the total value of Prizes otherwise payable in respect of that Draw exceeds the sum of Draw Ticket Sales multiplied by 0.5278, plus £500,000; and
      • (iii) in at least one of the Prize Categories for that Draw (other than the Match 0 Prize Category) the maximum number of fixed Prizes as set out in paragraph (E)(2)(e) below is exceeded, the provisions of paragraph (E)(2)(d) below shall apply.
    • (b) Where paragraph (E)(2)(a) above applies, then:
      • (i) where the number of Prizes in a Prize Category in that Draw would otherwise exceed the maximum number of fixed Prizes, as specified in paragraph (E)(2)(e) below, the Prizes for that Prize Category will be determined in accordance with paragraph (E)(2)(d) below;
      • (ii) where the number of Prizes in a Prize Category does not exceed the said maximum, the Prizes for that Prize Category will be as set out in paragraph (E)(1) above.
    • (c) For the avoidance of doubt, if any one or more of the circumstances set out in paragraphs (E)(2)(a)(i), (ii) or (iii) above should fail to occur in relation to a specific Draw, all fixed Prizes in that Draw shall be payable in full.
      • (d) (i) Residual Pool 1 for each Draw will be the greater of: 300% of the total value of Draw Ticket Sales; and Draw Ticket Sales multiplied by 0.5278, plus £500,000, less the actual Prizes won in the Match 0 Prize Category in that Draw, calculated at the rate of £1 per Prize.
      • (ii) Residual Pool 2 for each Prize Category in a particular Draw, excluding the Match 0 Prize Category, will be the maximum number of Prizes for that Prize Category calculated in accordance with paragraph (E)(2)(e) below, multiplied by the Prize for that Prize Category as set out in paragraph (E)(1) above.
      • (iii) Residual Pool 3 for each Draw will be the total of the Residual Pools 2 for that Draw, less the value of Prizes payable in those Prize Categories in which the number of Prizes does not exceed the relevant maximum calculated in accordance with paragraph (E)(2)(e) below.
      • (iv) Subject to paragraphs (E)(2)(d)(v) and (vi) below, Residual Pool 3 will be allocated to that Prize Category in which such maximum was exceeded and divided by the number of Prizes won in that Prize Category; the resulting amount shall be the Prize for that Prize Category for that Draw.
      • (v) Subject to paragraph (E)(2)(d)(vi) below, if there is more than one Prize Category in which such maximum is exceeded in the Draw, Residual Pool 3 will be allocated between those Prize Categories pro rata to the total value of Prizes which would have been won in each of those Prize Categories had the provisions of this paragraph E(2) not been applied and the Prize for each such Prize Category will be the amount so allocated to it divided by the number of Prizes won in that Prize Category.
      • (vi) If the Prize in any Prize Category as determined under paragraph (E)(2)(d)(iv) or (E)(2)(d)(v) above exceeds the Prize for that Prize Category as specified in paragraph (E)(1) above, then the Prize for that Prize Category will be as specified in paragraph (E)(1) above.
      • (e) For the purposes of paragraph E(2)(d) above, the maximum number of fixed Prizes in a Prize Category shall be calculated as follows:
Prize Categories Maximum Number of Prizes
Match 7 The number produced by dividing Residual Pool 1, as defined in paragraph (E)(2)(d)(i) above, by 888,030.0 and then dividing the resulting figure by 0.4405 (and, where the resulting number is not a whole number, rounding up to the next whole number).
Match 6 The number produced by dividing Residual Pool 1, as defined as aforesaid, by 6,343.0714 and then dividing the resulting figure by 0.4405 (and, where the resulting number is not a whole number, rounding up to the next whole number).
Match 5 The number produced by dividing Residual Pool 1, as defined as aforesaid, by 222.5639 and then dividing the resulting figure by 0.4405 (and, where the resulting number is not a whole number, rounding up to the next whole number).
Match 4 The number produced by dividing Residual Pool 1, as defined as aforesaid, by 22.2564 and then dividing the resulting figure by 0.4405 (and, where the resulting number is not a whole number, rounding up to the next whole number)

In each paragraph of the above 'Maximum Number of Prizes' column, the first figure represents the actual odds of winning in the relevant Prize Category and the second figure (0.4405) represents the percentage of Draw Ticket Sales which, it is expected, will over time be the average Prize payment percentage, excluding the Match 0 Prize Category, from such Draw Ticket Sales per Draw.

      • (f) Each Prize which is not a whole number of pounds sterling will be rounded down to the nearest £1.
      • (3) 'Match 7' is the highest Prize Category and 'Match 0' is the lowest Prize Category. The Company reserves the right at its absolute discretion to increase the Prize for any Prize Category or Categories for any Draw subject to the prior agreement of the Commission.
      • (4) The holder of a winning Entry may win in only one Prize Category per selection in connection with the Winning Numbers drawn in the relevant Draw(s) and shall be entitled only to the Prize for the highest Prize Category won by those numbers in such Draw(s) (regardless of the actual Prize value).
      • (5)
        • (a) The 'Match 0' Prize is a Daily Play Token and, for the purposes of this paragraph (E), shall be deemed to be a Prize with a value of £1.
        • (b) If for any reason a Daily Play Token cannot be issued to the person entitled under the Rules and these Procedures to that Prize entry, the only liability of the Company to that person shall be to pay to him the sum of £1.
        • (c) Subject to paragraph (E)(5)(b) above, there is no cash or other alternative to a 'Match 0' Prize.

  • (F) Refunds in Certain Circumstances.

    • (1) Notwithstanding any provision to the contrary in the Rules, in the event of a Cancelled Draw the Company shall refund to an Interactive Player who has purchased either a Play for the Cancelled Draw only or a Play for a Multi-draw for the Cancelled Draw and other Draws, an amount equal to that part of the purchase price as was paid in respect of and is attributable to the Cancelled Draw.
    • (2) Any refund and payment under paragraph (F)(1) above will be placed directly into an Interactive Player's Account.
    • (3) The Company shall not in any circumstances be liable to pay interest in respect of refunds or payments made under this paragraph (F).
    • (4) For the avoidance of doubt, this paragraph shall not apply in respect of any Draw which is delayed or postponed, nor in respect of any Draw which is cancelled but which is not a Cancelled Draw as defined in these Procedures.
