We want to ensure the very highest levels of security possible on all your transactions made on www.national-lottery.co.uk. That's why we are introducing new online security features, which include the use of the security number on your payment card and the Verified by Visa and MasterCard® SecureCode schemes.
We will be asking for the security number from your payment card every time you add money to your Account, so please remember to keep it handy. This security number is the last 3 digits printed on the signature strip on the back of your card, and is also sometimes referred to as a CVV/CVC code. This addition to the payment process will help prevent the fraudulent use of your card as it helps to verify that your card is in your possession.
If you can't read your security number please contact your card issuer as they will need to send you a new card.
These services are offered by Visa and MasterCard in association with your card issuer to enhance your protection when shopping online. The schemes work in a similar way to Chip and PIN, protecting your card with a password which only you know.
How does it work?
If your card issuer participates in either of the schemes you only need to register once to create a password for your card. Then, whenever and wherever you shop online with that card, you can use that password as added payment security, giving you peace of mind.
How do I register?
To register you need to provide some personal details so your card issuer can verify your card. Your personal details are not held/viewed on any National Lottery system and they are submitted to your card issuer on a secure link.
I'm already registered
If you are already registered, simply enter your password as indicated and click submit. Please note, this is your card verification password and not your National Lottery Account password.
I've forgotten my password
Firstly, remember to use your card verification password and not your National Lottery Account password. If you do need to reset your card verification password, the exact process may change depending on your card issuer. In most cases you will see a 'Forgot your password?' link. When you click on the link you will be asked for some of the information you provided when you registered. Once provided, your password will be reset and you'll be able to carry on with your transaction.
