  • Completing a Lotto and Lotto Plus 5 play slip

    Step 1

    Choose Lotto draws

    Select which Lotto draw day(s) you'd like to play; you can choose Wednesday, Saturday or both.

    Number of weeks

    You can purchase Lotto and Lotto Plus 5 tickets for up to 8 weeks at a time or you can choose 'Continuous' to play Lotto only by Direct Debit. Please note that Lotto Plus 5 is not available to play by Direct Debit, so this option will be unavailable if you select 'Continuous'. If you choose the Direct Debit option you will be prompted to set it up immediately, so please have your bank account details ready.

  • Step 2

    Enter your numbers

    Choose 6 numbers from 1 to 49 and type them in, tabbing from one box to the next.

    Lucky Dip

    If you don't have a set of numbers in mind, select 'Lucky Dip' and a line of numbers will be generated randomly (indicated by 'LD' on your play slip). Your numbers won't be displayed until you have bought your ticket. If you've selected to play for multiple draws the same Lucky Dip numbers will be entered in to each draw.

    Enter Lotto Plus 5

    To play Lotto Plus 5 you must play Lotto.

    You can enter your Lotto numbers into the five Lotto Plus 5 draws throughout the week. Just select the Plus 5 checkbox next to the Lotto lines you want to 'Plus 5'.

    It costs £1 extra per play (£1 per Lotto line that has been selected x number of weeks played).

    Clear

    If you have incorrectly entered numbers or selected Lucky Dip in error on the play slip, select 'Clear' to delete the complete line and start again.

  • Step 3

    Add more lines

    By selecting this link you will be able to purchase up to five play slips (35 lines of numbers). It is not possible to use the add more lines function if you choose to Plus 5 your numbers. However, you can purchase one play slip (up to seven lines) of Lotto with Plus 5 at one time. To play additional lines with Lotto Plus 5 you will need to purchase more tickets.

    When you buy Multiple Tickets using the 'Add more lines of numbers' option, you can save your numbers and play them whenever you choose. Lotto Plus 5 is the exciting game that you play with Lotto. For an extra £1 per play, your Lotto numbers are entered into five Lotto Plus 5 draws giving you five chances to win a top prize of £250,000** throughout the week.

The draws for Lotto Plus 5 take place on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. If you 'Plus 5' your Saturday Lotto numbers you'll be entered into the five Lotto Plus 5 draws from Sunday. If you 'Plus 5' your Wednesday Lotto numbers you'll be entered into the five Lotto Plus 5 draws starting from Thursday.

There are fixed prizes from £2.50 to £250,000** in each Lotto Plus 5 draw, so you don't have to share them. And just like Lotto you win by matching three or more numbers.

Tell me about Lotto

Lotto is the UK's biggest millionaire-making game. Simply select 6 numbers from 1 to 49.

The Lotto draw takes place every Wednesday and Saturday and six numbers (the main numbers) are drawn, along with one additional number - the bonus number. Match a minimum of three numbers to the main numbers drawn to win a prize. Remember, the bonus number is only relevant when you match five main numbers and the bonus number.

You can always be in the Lotto draw by choosing to pay by Direct Debit. Select 'Continuous' when choosing the number of weeks you want to play for.

How do I play online?

You need to open a National Lottery Account to play online. If you haven't opened one, we'll prompt you to do so once you've completed an online play slip. If you need assistance completing the play slip, click on 'Help' at the top left of the play slip.

Where is my ticket?

Your online ticket is kept safe and secure in your National Lottery Account, but you can view it whenever you like (except when the system is closed for maintenance). To access your Account, click 'Sign in' at the top of the page, and then enter your username and password. If you can't remember your sign in details, click the 'Forgot username or password?' link.

Once you've signed in, select 'My Account' at the top right of the page. To view your ticket select the 'My Tickets' option.

What happens if I win?

If you win, we'll send an email informing you that you have some news and ask you to sign in to your Account (this is for your security and protection; we will never tell you about your win in an email). In the message area of 'My Account' you'll find a message informing you of your win.

For convenience, most winnings will be paid directly to your National Lottery Account or to your debit card bank account by electronic transfer. You can claim your prize the day immediately after you win it.

Here's how we pay you:

Wins of up to £500

These will be paid directly to your Account. You can either choose to transfer them to your debit card bank account by electronic transfer or use them to play more games.

Wins of £501 to £5,000

These are paid directly to your bank account by electronic transfer.

Wins of over £5,000

Wins over £5,000 must be claimed by calling our National Lottery Customer Care Team on 0845 278 8000, and will be paid by cheque.

Results processing and verification

While the results are being processed and verified on draw nights, the jackpots remain unconfirmed. Please be aware that this means that for a short time on a Saturday night, you may still see information about tonight's jackpot on the site, even though you can no longer buy a ticket for tonight's draw.

Any ticket you buy after 9pm on Saturday night, where you choose a Saturday draw on your play slip, will be for the next Saturday draw, not tonight's draw.
