The Colliers

When the Collier brothers hit the jackpot they transformed their home. Take a look at the house, garden and their sports cars.

Play Lotto

Descriptor: Free flow camera shot from right to left, as we meet the two brother's smiling, standing next to each other with their arms crossed outside their new house.

Tim Vincent in voiceover: 2004 regular Lottery Players Ian and Peter Collier were delighted when three of their numbers came up on Lotto but little did they know just where those balls would lead.

Descriptor: We now see a clip from a Lottery draw with the balls tumbling and mixing in the drum. We now meet the brother's again now inside their house, sitting together on a sofa in the conservatory. We then see another clip of a recent Lottery draw as they continue to tell their story  ...

Ian Collier: On the Wednesday we won ten pounds so we invested 10 pounds in 10 lucky dips, so on the Saturday night when it was 17, whatever it was, million, it was one of those 10 lucky dips that came in, so it was certainly a lucky night for us.

Descriptor: There are free flow camera shots which switch between the brothers's playing snooker in another part of the conservatory, and on the sofa.

Tim Vincent voiceover: The brothers then phoned Camelot to check their numbers.

Ian again: They said, it looked like you may have won, so I said I was going round the club, my little club, for a drink , and they advised us not to say anything until, you know, we'd definitely, sort of, confirmed. There was one guy I sorted of bumped into and he said "Are you going to buy me a drink then?" I said "What do you think, I'm made of money?" (He laughs)

Descriptor: We now see a still of The Collier Brother's dressed in suits for their press photocall, standing with the big cheque, and in between them is ex-Royal correspondent and presenter, Jenni Bond. We now see free flow camera shots of the exterior of the new house they bought

Tim Vincent voiceover: Having packed in their jobs at the local sheet metal factory the brother's set about buying their dream home and settled on a nearby five bedroom house

Descriptor: We return to Peter and Ian sitting on the sofa and as they discuss the new house, we see some of the rooms: The lounge, one of the bedrooms, the garden

Peter Collier: I think why we bought this house, it was local to, err, our own house and also got to be near the local village. I suppose at the time I didn't want to move but when we came round here, I just loved the size, especially the garden.

Descriptor: Then see an exterior shot of the old house they used to live in. then we're back to exterior shots of the house and garden, plus different ornaments they've purchased since they've moved in a model ship, wide screen TV and guitar.

Back to Ian: Moving into this big house, for the first few weeks, we needed satellite navigation to get round it, because our old house was a three bedroom end terrace and living in it all your life seems strange to move to another house and suddenly come to a five bedroom house like this is so strange.

Descriptor: We now see the various cars they have purchased in their drive. There are free flow camera shots showing off the cars from different angles including the wheels, rear lights, the steering wheel and seats. We then join the brothers again on the sofa.

Tim Vincent voiceover: Behind every good millionaire, is a fleet of fancy cars, and the colliers are no exception

Ian: When we won the Lottery we decided that, you know, we could afford one each

Peter chips in: Or two !

Ian Laughs: Or two each

Peter chips in again laughing: three actually !

Descriptor: We are now with Ian in the driveway with his particular favourite car, who gives us a guided tour of it; we then see the roof come down.

Ian: This is shellac blue, a very lovely colour and inside, I've had the inside done in, what they call, light mottled cream but it's lovely to drive this car around in the summertime, basically what I got it for.

Descriptor: We then see a free flow camera shot of a view of the garden from one of the house's windows, and then shots of the brothers walking around it

Tim Vincent voiceover: And it's just not cars that a Lottery win can buy it also buys a two hundred and fifty thousand pound bespoke garden.

Descriptor: We join Peter and Ian back on the sofa again as they talk about their garden. We then see stills of the work being carried out to create their garden. We then see free flow camera shots of the summer house and the stream that runs through the garden. We now see the largest of the three ponds which has a waterfall with the carp swimming about as Ian feeds them.

Ian: I got in contact with an award winning landscape designers, and it took just over two years in the doing all of this garden. They did report that they shifted about one hundred and fifty tonnes of soil. We got a stream that starts at one end and it goes all the way down to the bottom and then we've got three ponds, me large one, which is ten thousand gallons that holds nearly 13 Japanese coy in there.

Descriptor: Both brothers are now leaning on a fence overlooking the pool, chatting about the fish.

Ian: that one cost me fifteen hundred pounds. I think the cheapest is this one here, four hundred pounds

Descriptor: We see more free flow camera shots of the beautifully coloured fish

Peter joins in: Mine's the cheapest, my little brown one down the bottom there, the brown back one - fifty pounds

Descriptor: We now join the brothers as they continue to walk around the garden to the decking area and the hot tub, before joining them again on the sofa.

Tim Vincent voiceover: Their Lottery win also allowed them to indulge their friends in their new luxury lifestyle

Descriptor: We now see more free flowing camera shots of the hot tubs bubbling and steaming water and the relaxed area of decking with some sun loungers.

Ian: the other Christmas we had seventeen people 'ere, we went out for lunch and then eight of us got in the hot tub and we were there to midnight drinking champagne and beer so spending Christmas night in the hot tub, lovely it was !

Peter adds: It was nice. It was a good night. It was a nice evening, wasn't it?

Descriptor: We now see a long distance shot of the brother's by their summer house leaning on some wooded railings, shots of the fish swimming in the pool and finally back to the brothers on the sofa.

Tim Vincent in voiceover: Winning the Lottery has enabled The Colliers to live life to the fullest.

Ian: These things come along and you have to grab them. You're only on the planet once so I say, you know, enjoy your life while you can, that's what we certainly are.
