Life changing

You’re changing lives across the UK for the better – here’s the list of the 15 brilliant things you did over the past few weeks.

Over the past four weeks you've raised over £130 million and supported more than 1,600 projects across the UK. That money is supporting projects and people all across the UK – from revamping national treasures to enabling our athletes to realise their dreams. Here’s a quick round up of what you've made possible in the last few weeks alone.

From supporting incredible people

  • Athletes like Mo Farah, Jess Ennis-Hill and Katarina Johnson-Thompson build on their Olympic legacy at the 2015 Anniversary Games, inspiring future generations
  • £1.6M to help British Olympic athletes be at their best in Rio in 2016
  • £1.6M to community organisations in Glasgow
  • £30M for charities that help people through times of crises

To restoring natural beauty

  • Making over 170 ponds and lakes full of life again
  • Reopening five parks that were once unloved and unvisited

From the historically significant

  • £4.78M for the new Brunel Museum in Bristol
  • £3M boost to Norfolk’s museums
  • A further £4M for local communities to explore the impact of the First World War as the nation marked one year until the centenary of the Battle of the Somme
  • Britain on Film launched – giving everyone the chance to look at archive footage about their local area
  • Revamping Newcastle’s Hatton Gallery
  • Preserving music halls like Hoxton Hall

To creating connections

  • Over £25 million went to 736 community projects, supporting projects for all ages and interests – from teenagers’ football clubs, to mums and toddler groups, and over 60s activity networks
  • £438,900 given to open up museums and culture projects to those with sight loss
  • £136,000 to artists based in the Midlands celebrating our cultural links with India
