Teamparkrun is back for 2018

Teamparkrun is back for 2018. From Saturday 18th August to Sunday 9th September, the UK's National Lottery funded Olympic and Paralympic athletes are once again teaming up with parkrun to encourage the nation to get active with #teamparkrun.

Our National Lottery players have been supporting sport since the very beginning. From thousands of community sports and fitness projects, right through to elite training and a whopping 860 Olympic and Paralympic medals – by playing, you’ve made it all possible.

Now we're inviting you to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our GB heroes at #teamparkrun. To celebrate your ongoing support, sports stars past and present are popping up at various parkrun and junior parkrun events across the UK to get behind the public as volunteer Tail Walkers as they walk, jog and run around the 5km and 2km courses.

Olympic long jump champion and #teamparkrun ambassador Greg Rutherford said: “I was fortunate to be involved in this campaign last year and I am delighted to be back. #teamparkrun is a fantastic opportunity for National Lottery funded Olympic and Paralympic athletes to go out into local communities across the UK to say thank you to National Lottery players for supporting us every step of the way. I would urge everyone out there to go along to their local parkrun and whether you walk, jog, run or volunteer, I know you will have a great time. It’s so important for people to get outdoors and get active and parkrun provides an ideal opportunity to do this.”
