How you're making Scotland £3 billion times happier

The National Lottery has given Scotland three billion reasons to smile, as it celebrates a remarkable £3 billion of investment in good causes across the nation since launching in 1994.

By playing The National Lottery you have made it possible for life-changing sums of money to be invested into more than 63,000 community, arts, heritage and sports projects in Scotland, bringing smiles to faces up and down the country.

To say thank you, we undertook a secret filming project to capture the surprise reactions of four Scottish charities as they discover they’ve been awarded National Lottery funding. Paralympic judoka, Sam Ingram was one of the applicants we surprised. He asked for funding to help create a new judo hub for visually impaired people in Glasgow.

Sam explains what the funding will help him to achieve: “Those who are visually impaired like myself can sometimes struggle to find a suitable sport but judo has so much to offer. The Clydebank judo hub will really benefit young kids with visual impairment, help build their confidence and potentially discover a sport for life.

“I was blown away to hear the news about the funding and I can’t thank the players of National Lottery enough for making this possible.”
