Charity founder Ali gets a surprise she’ll never forget

Ali Waterworth knows all too well the emotional, physical and financial toll serious illness takes on a family. Her son, Ruddi, developed a rare form of cancer at just six months old. After her son’s recovery, Ali wanted to support families experiencing what hers had gone through by providing them with holidays to help recharge their batteries. And so, Ruddi’s Retreat was created.

Thanks to Ali’s dedication and National Lottery funding, the charity has helped hundreds of people make very special memories. As part of The National Lottery’s Big Surprise – which honours individuals who’ve made a real difference with the help of National Lottery funding – we thought we’d help some of the families show her how grateful they are.

Watch the film below to see Ali’s brilliant reaction to a surprise she’ll never forget.
