Good Causes

TV ad highlights £30Million raised for good causes each week

Imagine a dog that’s much more than a pet. A dog that can fetch food from the fridge, take your shoes off, dry your back after a shower and tuck you in when you go to bed. Well, 3-year-old Valencia does all of that and more for her owner, Vanessa Bobby-Rose. Vanessa, who has a rare genetic condition called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, said ‘Vally’ “has completely changed my life for the better.”

It costs the National Lottery-funded charity Canine Partners about £30,000 to train a super dog like Vally. But thanks to National Lottery players like you, a staggering £30Million for good causes is raised every week – enough to train 1000 life-changing assistance dogs.

£30Million a week isn't just used to train clever canines; it could also be used to do things like support 30,000 veterans, help 20,000 community football teams keep scoring, fund 900 new library projects and much, much more. In fact, so far more than 565,000 grants totalling more than £41 billion have been distributed throughout the UK since 1994.
