£1Million win helps Ayrshire Butterflies take flight

The Ayrshire Butterflies are spreading their wings after a £1Million win on EuroMillions UK Millionaire Maker. This ‘flutter’ on The National Lottery means each member of the unusually-named syndicate has netted £125,000.

The group usually plays Lotto, but on a whim, syndicate leader Patricia decided to invest in a EuroMillions ticket.

Patricia said: “We have played Lotto routinely twice a week but this was the first time since 2017 that we bought a EuroMillions ticket. It was a spur of the moment decision as we had some money left in the pot, but I’m certainly glad I did!”

They all have different plans for their winnings, but Patricia’s looking forward to buying a home for her and her daughter. She said: “This is something I have been dreaming of doing for so many years and it feels fantastic to know that the worry has disappeared practically overnight.”

Telling the other members of the syndicate (six of whom wanted to share their news publically) was a particular highlight. Patricia said: “It was a Saturday afternoon, most were out and about so their reactions were absolutely priceless!”

When asked about the unusual syndicate name Patricia said: “Butterflies signify endurance, change, hope and life. The two original syndicate members starting the syndicate almost six years ago signify endurance, the win will change our lives and gives hope to others that this could happen to them and, of course, that life is for living and to make the most of. Plus the fact the same butterfly keeps popping in and out through my window!”
