Lucky Dip delivers a £1Million win for supermarket worker
A Lucky Dip has delivered big for an Asda customer services advisor from Wolverhampton. She is skipping down the aisles after bagging £1,000,000 on EuroMillions Millionaire Maker.
Amanda Lewis (49) from Featherstone was shopping in the store where she works after working late one evening. While grabbing her groceries the mother of twins also picked up a Lucky Dip.
The next day Amanda briefly checked her numbers but completely forgot about the Millionaire Maker code. After her shift she decided to take the ticket to the assistant at the Lottery kiosk in store, she said, “When she started to smile I went a bit weak at the knees.”
Amanda, who is married to Barry, said, “I was in a bit of a daze. I had forgotten about the code. She told me to sign the back and call The National Lottery immediately. I went and sat in the car and then couldn’t decide whether or not to go home and call or to phone from the car.
“I sat in the car park and called Barry who didn’t believe me. I dithered some more and then called.”
Amanda, who has twins Charlotte and Ryan (21), is still in shock about the win. “I’m still speechless and I’m not 100% sure of what I’m going to do with the money. My children come first so I’ve discussed buying Charlotte and Ryan a car each. We’ll go on a family holiday and Cyprus takes my fancy. Apart from that I’m just going to have a think, discuss it with Barry and take it steady.”
The village of Featherstone is having its fair share of luck as Amanda is the second £1Million EuroMillions winner in the last twelve months. Back in December 2015 lorry driver Stuart Powell and his wife Denise struck gold. Amanda said: “I don’t know Stuart and Denise but it is amazing that a small place like Featherstone has another winner.”
Amanda has worked at Asda in Wolverhampton for 14 years. She is a customer services advisor and buys her Lottery tickets from the supermarket. Amanda uses the National Lottery Fast Pay service which enables players to store their lucky numbers on a re-usable, wallet-sized card and play draw-based games at the checkout.
