Halloween trick turns into treat for Glasgow girl

A Glasgow shop worker thought she was the victim of her father's trick or treat on Halloween when he called and told her she had won on EuroMillions. It turned out there was no trick when she walked away £150,386 richer.

Arlene McCutcheon's dad took her EuroMillions ticket home with him by accident and called on Halloween morning to see if he could check the numbers. He then called back with news of Arlene's win. "I really didn't believe him at first, I thought he was having me on. When he insisted he wasn't joking it all felt a bit surreal. I went straight over his house to check the numbers for myself then phoned the claim line."

Arlene's partner, industrial roofer John–Paul Quinn, was with her when she got the call from her dad and the pair will be using the win to help them take the next step in their relationship.

"We had been saving up for our first home but this win means we can buy a house straight away and move in together. It's amazing. We'll splash out on a few holidays as well and a shopping spree but we will spend the rest wisely. And we’ll still keep on buying a Lottery ticket every now and then!"

The National Lottery has been changing the lives of winners and supporting good causes across the UK since 1994. In that time, there have been more than 7,000 new millionaires created and by playing The National Lottery you raise over £4 million for Good Causes every dayΔ.
