Dream predicts £1M win

A vivid dream where he won the lottery came true for a dad of three from the Isle of Man. He is now celebrating a £1M EuroMillions win.

Philip Poultney (45) from Braddan, always buys a ticket when he is feeling lucky, "On this occasion, just one day before the draw, I had a really vivid dream – I dreamt about everything, from purchasing the ticket, to going into the actual supermarket I visited, having it checked and being told I needed to call Camelot because it was a big prize!"

Dream comes true

Philip, who owns a kitchen and bedroom fitting company, discovered his win when he was buying lunch between jobs. Handing over his ticket to be checked he recognised the sound the lottery terminal made.

"The machine made a noise and I knew that meant I was a winner – when the cashier turned to me and said this is more than we can pay out I thought I had probably won around £500. I asked the cashier to print off the winning numbers and raffle codes. I noticed I hadn't matched any of the numbers so I looked at the code – I couldn’t believe it when I saw it matched and I thought I had won £20,000.

"It was only when I double checked and saw all of the zeros, I realised it was £1M! I made sure I signed the ticket immediately and then called Camelot. I was literally shaking like a leaf."

He immediately drove to see his wife Joanne (36) who is a hairdresser. "I was going through a combination of emotions, from smiling to shaking to just wanting to burst into tears," he said.

Life changing plans

Philip says top of the shopping list is a new and larger home for his family, together with new cars for Joanne and eldest son, Lewis (20). His two younger daughters don’t really understand what has happened, "They just know mummy and daddy have won a large amount of money and have said please can they have a big garden and a swing now!"

He added, "This win will provide us with so many choices – and will ensure we are mortgage free for life. We were planning to move house so we have more room for our family – we initially wanted to move to a four bedroom home but now the choice is endless – this win just gives us so much more scope. Life will be so much easier now. I actually don't think the full reality of what has happened has really sunk in."

The National Lottery has been changing the lives of winners and supporting good causes across the UK since 1994. In that time, there have been more than 7,000 new millionaires created and by playing The National Lottery you raise over £4 million for Good Causes every dayΔ.
