Life changing

Southampton lady drawn back to the till for the winning Lotto ticket

A Southampton lady changed the habit of a lifetime and is now celebrating with a cheque for £67,414. Kathryn Dawkins, who admits to being a creature of habit, goes to her local garage every Saturday for her Lotto ticket. For no reason she broke her routine and that ticket turned out to be the big winner.

The part-time sales assistant from Southampton said, "On Friday when I got off the bus from work, I went into the local Co-op to pick up some groceries. I had actually walked away from the counter when I decided to go back and buy my Lucky Dip Lotto tickets."

She admits that there was a strange force drawing her back to the till. "I've absolutely no idea why I decided to do this, I really am a creature of habit, and even spookier, I said to the cashier, 'you never know, this could be lucky for me!' I had absolutely no idea just how lucky it would be."

Kathryn discovered the win the morning after the draw when she checked her ticket in the local garage and was told to call The National Lottery line. "I walked home in a daze with the ticket scrunched in my hand and with absolutely no idea how much I’d won. Deep down I was hoping it would be £1,000 but didn’t dare believe I could be that lucky."

Kathryn and her partner Tony Messom are now planning home improvements before putting the rest of money away for the future.
