Silver Lotto Medal Draw win for Wolverhampton family

A mum and her two daughters from Bushbury, Wolverhampton have scooped one of 67 life changing prizes in the special Lotto Medal Draw. On top of the usual Lotto draw, additional prizes were up for grabs to celebrate each of the incredible medals won by Team GB in Rio. The Wolverhampton family won an amazing £100,000 plus their very own commemorative Lottery Silver medals.

Christine Hudson, 57, and her daughters Natasha, 36, and Katy, 28, who are equally sharing the £100,000 win, admit to being a delighted family but still in shock. Christine said, “I’m still speechless. This money will take the pressure off our everyday life and one of the first things I’ll do is to replace my 2005 Astra.”

Natasha, who is sports mad and a manager at Wolverhampton’s Swimming and Fitness Centre said, “I thoroughly enjoyed cheering on Team GB at the Rio Olympics. I can’t believe I have won as a result of them winning in Rio and I even have my own Silver medal too!”

Is it real?

The three didn’t believe they had a winning ticket and spent most of the early hours of the Sunday morning after the draw travelling around North Wolverhampton to check if it was real. Christine said, “It was about 2:30am on Sunday morning when Katy woke me up saying that we had won something on the Lottery. We went downstairs, made a cup of tea and started to check the internet and TV.

“Both confirmed the special code of TEAL 39248104 was a winner and we were £100,000 richer. But we still didn’t believe it, so we decided to download the app from The National Lottery website and scan the ticket. We got the same answer!”

By this time Christine’s older daughter Natasha had been woken up and Christine and Katy drove around to Natasha’s house to show her the ticket. But the checking didn’t stop there.

Christine said, “We even jumped in the car to find a retailer to check the ticket for us, but being as it was about 4:30am everywhere we went was closed. So we waited patiently before calling The National Lottery Hotline when it opened at 9am.”

Christine’s daughter Katy bought the winning ticket on the morning of the draw having nearly forgotten to buy one. Katy said, “We hadn’t bought a ticket for a few weeks and Mum kept reminding me to pop to the Co-op…I’m so glad she did.”
