Lotto winner spreads his luck in home town

Cheshire National Lottery winner Kevin Jones, a grandad and former bus driver, has shared some of his luck on the streets of his home town. With a butler in tow, the Lotto jackpot winner handed out gold envelopes of tickets hoping to create another big winner.

Kevin, who was born and brought up in Crewe, scooped a £6.1Million Lotto jackpot in May 2016. He decided to celebrate his first anniversary by going out and about in his home town to share some of his good luck and fortune.

Kevin, who worked long shifts as a bus driver just to make ends meet prior to his life changing win, hired a butler for the day and with his wife, Michele spent time giving people in Crewe a taste of the millionaire lifestyle.

Golden envelopes

Kevin said, “We cannot believe it is one year since our lives changed forever. When we were talking about how we would celebrate our first anniversary since becoming Lottery winners we both said we really wanted to give something back and do something which would benefit others.”

The couple and their butler handed out golden envelopes of Lotto tickets to people out shopping and going about their daily chores. The butler also shined shoes for passersby, held umbrellas to protect shoppers from the showers and assisted pensioners on to the bus as part of Kevin and Michele’s programme of good-will gestures for the day.

Close to home

Despite winning the huge sum of money and moving into their dream home, Kevin and Michele, who worked as classroom assistants, remain close to Crewe and all of their friends.

“We love it in this area and have lots of friends here so definitely didn’t want to move far away."

“Charity is something which has always been close to both of our hearts and winning the Lottery has enabled us to do so much more to help even more people."

“There is something really special about bringing smiles to faces and I just hope that some of the golden envelopes which we have handed out contain winning tickets. I want as many people as possible to be able to live the dream – just like Michele and I are doing every single day.”

Dream

Despite it now being over a year since the win, Kevin says there are days when it still doesn’t seem real and he thinks he is going to wake up and realise it has all been a dream.

“Since that day Michele and I really have been living the dream. If it can happen once, it can happen again! Never think it can’t happen to you – because it absolutely can!”

The National Lottery has been changing the lives of winners and supporting good causes across the UK since 1994. In that time, there have been more than 7,000 new millionaires created and by playing The National Lottery you raise over £4 million for Good Causes every dayΔ.
