Lucky Dip delivers jackpot win for Halifax gran

A Halifax gran, who has played the same two Lotto lines since launch says a ‘strange sense’ led to her choosing a Lucky Dip® ticket instead. Her sixth sense proved to be spot on as she became one of three Lotto Quadruple Rollover winners, walking away with £4,301,108.

Jane Lewis, a retired seamstress and mother of five, reveals, “I’ve never bought a Lucky Dip before, and never on a Wednesday – I always put on my numbers on Monday, without fail – but I had this strange sense that I needed to buy this ticket.”

Jane’s instinct proved accurate when she sat down to check her ticket and found she had matched all six main numbers. Hands shaking and still in shock, Jane’s first call was to one of her five sons to confirm that she had indeed hit the jackpot.

Jane said, “I gave my boy quite a fright calling so late at night, he thought something terrible had happened. When I told him that I thought I’d won the lottery, there was just silence at the other end of the line. I think he was convinced I’d gone daft!”

“He came straight round and we fell into fits of giggles. We must have stayed up to 3am just laughing with one another. I was a millionaire; it was so bizarre.”

I got the bus into town that day to buy a new pair of slippers I’d had my eye on for a while

Taking the windfall in her stride, the morning after discovering her win, Jane called her remaining four sons and sister to share the good news, and then went about her day as usual.

“I didn’t want any fuss, but my family were understandably all in a bit of a state over the news,” said Jane. “I felt a real sense of calm though. I got the bus into town that day to buy a new pair of slippers I’d had my eye on for a while and had been saving up for. With the win, I thought I might as well treat myself!”

Following the footwear, top of Jane’s shopping list is a home of her own with her dream kitchen where she can bake away to her hearts content. “I’ve rented a little one bedroom place for the last 11 years. I absolutely love it, but the kitchen is very small and I don’t have a spare bedroom for family. I bake a lot, and am always whipping up a cake or two for friends’ birthdays or when people pop over – so it will be lovely to have a home with more space.”

“Overall though, for me this win really means that I now have peace of mind” said Jane. “My family don’t ever have to worry about money again, they know they’ll be taken care of. That means the world to me, to be in a position to provide for them financially.”
