Winners

Bill and Cath Mullarkey help us celebrate 25 years of winners

Bill and Cath met in St Lucia in 1992 while they were working as chefs in a hotel. They got married in 1996 and dreamed of building their own home on the idyllic Caribbean island, but an economic downturn forced them to return to the UK.

Bill said, “We bought a plot of land, planning to one day build a home of our own. But by July 2017, we realised we didn’t have the funds. It was heartbreaking, but we decided to sell up.

“We returned to the UK feeling really down... only to win the Lottery!”

The £1Million EuroMillions win has allowed Bill and Cath to build their own three-storey house. They are developing the ground floor into apartments and on the roof-top terrace they will run a small restaurant where they can finally serve their own food using only fresh, local ingredients.

For 25 years The National Lottery has been changing the lives of winners and supporting good causes across the UK. Since November 19th 1994 there have been 5,500 millionaires created and over £40 billion has been given to good causes across the UK.
