Scratchcard winner bags herself a quarter of a million

Breast screening manager Linda Cain found more than she bargained for at the bottom of her treasured handbag.

She carried around a scratchcard for two weeks before discovering she had a quarter of a million quid under her arm!

“I had bought a couple of scratchcards two weeks previously but I forgot about them until I was putting my mobile into my handbag and spotted them,” explains Linda. “At first I thought I hadn't won anything then I revealed the winning diamond symbol. I always scratch my cards from left to right so when I saw the two and the five I thought I had won £250, not £250,000!”

Bagging herself a small fortune, the 59 year old mum says she can now celebrate with early retirement from the NHS, loads of holidays and a flashy new motor to put on the drive.
