New home for care worker Kirsty

A key worker in the care sector and mum-of-two is celebrating and buying a new family home after winning the £300,000 top prize on the Cash Lines Scratchcard.

Kirsty Pippard, who has just celebrated her 29th birthday, is a hard-working care home worker from Bridgwater in Somerset. Her stroke of luck came as she treated both her and her husband to a Scratchcard each to celebrate his birthday and promptly won £300K! Kirsty said, “I honestly can’t believe how lucky we’ve been.”

Kirsty is a Senior Healthcare Assistant at a care home for the elderly and has been working gruelling hours, in addition to her usual 12-hour shifts, throughout the pandemic. She is now looking forward to buying some well-earned treats for herself and the family.

Kirsty and her family recently discovered that the two-bedroom home they rent is being sold, so the timing is ideal for them to move to something larger. Kirsty has splashed out on a new four-bedroom, detached property and hopes to be settled in within weeks.

Kirsty said, “Everything still seems strange and new but is, of course, very welcome after such a tough couple of months. We had been planning on moving in with my mum, so we could save for a deposit, so this win is brilliant.

“Our new house, which we hope to move into very soon, is a dream come true. I can’t wait to move into our new family home. It’s just what we wanted – a room for each of our children and a spare for my mum or mother-in-law to stay. The garden provides plenty of space for the children to run around and it was one of only two houses we viewed. It’s a five minute drive from where we live now and we knew straight away that it felt like home."

And while Kirsty's been too busy at work to really have a chance to celebrate, she's got some leave coming up and plans to make the most of it. The couple's wedding anniversary, their birthdays and of course their National Lottery win are a great reason to pop some champagne.

Kirsty said, “It really does feel like a blessing to have this win at the end of a really hard couple of months, in terms of work. It has been such an effort trying to keep our home life together while remaining strong at work throughout a 12 hour shift. People ask why I’m not thinking of going part-time or not going back to work, but I really love my job, even after these last few months.”
