Lights, camera, action – Security guard reveals scratchcard win
A film fanatic security guard need never worry about indulging his passion for the cinema again after winning £300,000.
Richard Simpson from Liverpool won on the National Lottery Cashword Red Scratchcard after a roll of luck which was like something from a film.
He reveals, “I was on my lunch-break and I just felt lucky. I bought a scratchcard and won £6.00 so I decided to put half of the money back into buying a second scratchcard.”
“I started to scratch it and it revealed I had won £1,000. I couldn’t believe it – I jumped up and literally ran round the shop! I thought this really is my lucky day. I carried on scratching only to discover I had won £10,000 – it just seemed too good to be true.”

“I kept going and really thought I was dreaming when the card revealed I had won £300,000! I just couldn’t stop shaking – it didn’t seem real and still doesn’t.”
The win gives Richard the security in life he had always just dreamed of. Beyond going to the movies it means he can buy a house and learn to drive.
He added, “This really is a fantastic amount of money – it will help to make many of my dreams come true – and at the same time I can treat my mum. I will probably treat her to a cruise. She is a huge Elvis fan so I think a trip to Graceland, the home of Elvis, will have to be part of the itinerary.”
