Loved one delivers Thunderball win for County Durham Family

Walter Knowles, his son Gary, and two daughters, Christina, and Joanne, play Lotto and Thunderball every week and always played with Walter’s wife and their mum, Eva. After Eva passed away in February last year, Christina said they decided to continue to play Thunderball in memory of her.

Christina said, “We always played Lotto as a family and my mum loved Thunderball. She would always play four lines of Thunderball and after she died we decided to continue to play four lucky dip lines in her memory.

“You obviously always hope and dream that you will win but you never really believe that you will – things like this just don’t happen to families like us.”

Dream

Christina revealed how the night before the win her Walter, a great granddad, dreamt the family syndicate was going to become cash rich.

“My dad said he had dreamt we were going to win but thought it would be on Lotto – but his dream has obviously come true and on the game my mum loved. We do believe that our mum is looking down on us.”

Walter, a retired miner, currently lives in an ex-miner bungalow, but a new one of his own is top of the shopping list for all of the family.

Christina said, “My dad struggles to get out so Joanne is his full time carer. It is just life changing this amount of money and wonderful to think that we can now get a bungalow for my dad and Joanne. We still can’t really believe this has happened.”

Christina continued, “It is all just so unbelievable – never did we believe as a family that something like this could happen to us. It is just wonderful – that is the best word to describe how we are all feeling right now.”
