Watch our new ad: a Lotto love story where hope prevails
Our heart-warming new TV ad, made by Oscar-winning director Tom Hooper (The King’s Speech), follows a couple’s enduring love and sense of hope over three decades.
Our ad begins, like so many good things, with eyes meeting across a crowded room. The date is 19th November 1994 and the TV playing in the background is showing the very first National Lottery draw. Everyone can feel a sense of hope and excitement (could it be them?!), not least our heroes Edward and Isaac – two protagonists who are about to make a lifelong connection.
When a Lotto ticket tumbles out of a back pocket, Isaac seizes the opportunity to return it. A smile is exchanged and a connection is made; one that will deepen over the years as the strangers fall in love, get married and build a life together. As we watch them laugh, love and turn grey, their enduring bond is symbolised by their hope that Edward’s Lotto numbers will come up.
