Life changing

Surprise sing-along for super Sue!

Helping older people to enjoy life and overcome loneliness is at the heart of everything that National Lottery funded Golden Oldies do. This network of over 70 community singing groups run daytime activity sessions across England and Wales largely through the support of volunteers who give up their time to bring smiles and laughter to all those who attend.

One volunteer in particular has gone above and beyond to bring happiness and friendship to people in Cardiff through the local Goldies Cymru group. The Goldies wanted to say thanks to Sue Thomas, so together we created a surprise that included a touch of sparkle, a handful of sequins and a giant mirror ball!

Sue thought that she was turning up for her weekly singalong, but with a little help from some of the Goldies and a very special surprise instructor we turned the quiet library into a fun filled dancing extravaganza!

Speaking about Sue, Grenville Jones, Founder of Golden Oldies said:

“Sue’s passion has always been, and will always be about the community, you only have to look at the sheer number of people that turn up to her Golden Oldie’s group to know that this is a very special lady, with a very special gift for making people loved…she’s modest and unassuming, I can’t think of anybody more deserving of a special surprise.”
