In 2010, while serving in Afghanistan as a staff sergeant in the Scots Royal Engineers, Micky Yule stepped on an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). He lost both his legs.
Four years on - and some 40 operations later - Micky is this week competing at the Invictus Games, an international sporting event for wounded, injured and sick Servicemen and women.
With plans to compete at the Paralympics in Rio in 2016, Micky is one of the 345* Paralympic athletes supported by National Lottery funding as part of UK Sport’s World Class Programme. Here, he tells us his story.
