Good Causes

Laughter really is good for your health

Twenty-one years ago Keith Palmer set up The Comedy School. The school aims to raise the profile of the many uses of comedy, from stimulating personal creativity to developing social skills and improving literacy. And it has helped hundreds of people, including Blowden.

Blowden’s story

Performing at an open mic night was something Blowden never thought she’d do. She suffered from crippling depression and never dreamed she’d have the confidence. It wasn’t until she was in her 60s that she discovered her true talents through The Comedy School. Thanks to National Lottery funding, The Comedy School has been able to support Blowden with her mental health through its improvisation class.

Big Surprise

To thank Keith for changing the lives of hundreds of people like Blowden, we surprised him with a very special comedy show of his own. Watch the video to see what happened.
