Set For Life winners

What does it feel like to win Set For Life? The phrase we hear a lot is “completely life-changing”. That’s hardly surprising given the incredible prizes the game has been delivering since it was launched on 15th March 2019.
Set For Life draws take place on Mondays and Thursdays and the top prize is an amazing £10,000 every month for 30 years. Holidays on repeat, spa days on repeat... whatever your thing is, Set For Life gives you the opportunity to do it again and again. To win Set For Life’s top prize you have to match five numbers and the Life Ball on the same line. There are plenty of other Set For Life prizes to be won, of course. For example, match five main numbers and you could win £10,000 every month for a year.

Recent Set For Life winners
We love it when one of our big Set For Life winners chooses to share their incredible news with the world. You can find the amazing stories of some of those who have here. One thing is certain: there is no typical Set For Life winner. Some recent winners include a 36-year-old mum from Glasgow, a 69-year-old carpenter from Mid Glamorgan and a 32-year-old kitchen company manager from Stockport.
Win on Repeat. Wherever you live, whatever you do, a big Set For Life win gives you the opportunity to make dreams come true over and over again.
Dan’s the man
Dan Cole, a 32-year-old kitchen company manager from Stockport, set about cooking up all sorts of exciting plans after winning a Set For Life prize of £10,000 every month for a year.
When we caught up with him, he’d already put a family holiday on his wish list as well as a fun-filled garden play area for his daughter. Dan was also planning some renovations to his home and, as a devoted Manchester City fan, he was looking forward to attending some of the club’s away games.
Dan said, “We bought our first house together a couple of years ago and are still working on the renovations to turn it into our dream home. We’ve been saving up to give the bathroom a makeover and set up a play area in the garden for our little girl, so it feels great being able to get on with that.
“We also want to see the world and we’ll be ticking off our wish list of places to visit. I really want to travel to America, and my partner wants to explore Europe, so we’re just figuring out where to go first!”
Sandra – taking the plunge
Sandra Hall from Stoke was ready to take the plunge and splash out on a brand-new hot tub after winning a top Set For Life prize of £10,000 every month for 30 years.
The 61-year-old, who has worked as a professional carer for the past 19 years, said her first thought after winning the amazing prize was how to share her windfall with her nearest and dearest.
She said, “It’s always been who I am to try and look after others, it’s my vocation. Sometimes I get reminded by family and friends that I need to do something for myself.
“When I found out that I’d just won the top prize on Set For Life, I knew my one treat would be a hot tub! I’ll have my winning numbers engraved on it to remind myself how lucky I have been every time I take a dip.”
Olivia – Loving (Set for) Life
Olivia Love, a 36-year-old mum from Glasgow, is hoping to make a name for herself as a wedding content creator after scooping £10,000 every month for a year on Set For Life from The National Lottery.
Olivia got married to her partner Kevin in 2024. She said, “We got married with a very low-key wedding and we had a social media content creator alongside a photographer and videographer. I absolutely loved the results and have been secretly wanting to try it myself ever since.
“Winning Set For Life means I have the luxury of exploring how I might make it a reality, so I cannot wait to start building what could be my dream career!”
After discovering they had won an amazing Set For Life prize, Olivia and Kevin celebrated with a spot of retail therapy, treating themselves to a selection of little luxuries. They also picked out a new car for Kevin and drew up a list of special gifts for each of their four children.
Life after winning Set For Life
Winning a big Set For Life prize is an incredible experience. Suddenly, things that seemed like faraway dreams can become reality. It’s a lot to deal with and naturally, there are adjustments to be made. Andrew Carter, senior winners’ advisor at Allwyn UK, the operator of The National Lottery, said most Set For Life winners take their time to consider what to do with the money that will arrive in their account ever month. Anyone who wins £1Million or more on The National Lottery – regardless of whether they choose to share their news – gets free access to legal and financial advice and a wellbeing expert to help them make the most of their win. There is also a free concierge service in case you want to book that luxury holiday you’ve always dreamed of!
Encouraging responsible play is at the heart of everything we do. You can find out more about player safety and wellbeing at www.national-lottery.co.uk/responsible-play.
Spend your winnings wisely
Plenty of us have fantasised about having £10,000 arrive in our bank account every month for 30 years, but when the dream becomes reality, there are some important questions to be answered. Here are the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about winning Set For Life.
Can winners remain anonymous?
A: Yes, absolutely. People can decide to share their amazing news, of course, but it’s entirely up to them.
Are Set For Life wins taxable?
A: There is no tax to be paid on the win. When players buy a National Lottery ticket, 12p in every pound is paid to the Treasury in Lottery Duty, but there's no tax imposed on the initial prize. However, if the win is invested and produces income, it will be taxed in the same way as any other income.
Who is entitled to your win?
A: This is straightforward: we pay the prize to the owner of the ticket.
How can you gift your wins?
A: You can certainly gift all or part of your winnings, but there can be implications so make sure you take advice first.
Remember, you’re not on your own if you become a Set For Life winner. All winners of the game’s top prize will be offered free access to legal and financial specialists who can answer all your questions. Winners of big Set For Life prizes can also speak to our wellbeing expert. And if a winner decides to share their fantastic news, they will be introduced to a community of winners who know first-hand what it’s like to become a National Lottery millionaire.
Community and charity projects funded when you play Set For Life
Every time you buy a Set For Life ticket you’re helping The National Lottery raise more than £30Million a week for Good Causes right across the UK. From renovating sports centres, community halls and cherished buildings, to supporting the young and old and helping the arts flourish, in every postcode district across the UK hundreds of projects have been supported with National Lottery funding.
By playing National Lottery games, you’re helping make a real change to people and communities in every corner of the UK. Whether it’s reviving local parks and building youth centres or bringing people together on allotments or sports fields, The National Lottery helps ordinary people do amazing things.
Communities and charities funded by Set For Life players
Making sure as much money as possible goes towards life-changing Good Cause projects is incredibly important to us. In fact, it’s what we’re here for. For every National Lottery ticket sold, a proportion of the money received goes to a huge variety of projects, both big and small – from repairing Scout huts to making sure our Olympic and Paralympic champions are at their medal-winning best. So, every time you play, the UK wins.
Many of our winners use their good fortune as an opportunity to give back. Many winners tell us that being able to make a difference to causes that mean a lot to you and your family is one of the best parts of winning.
But even if you’re not a winner, your ticket is still helping change lives – and we have plenty of stories to share about amazing projects you’ve helped support by playing The National Lottery. You can read our most recent highlights below.
