£1M EuroMillions winners are swimming in cash
A couple from Telford took a dip at their local swimming pool as they waited to confirm they’d won an amazing £1Million EuroMillions prize.
The morning after Ruth Giblin bought a ticket for the special EuroMillions draw on Friday 22 July 2022, she found a message on the National Lottery app telling her she’d won £1Million. Because it was too early to get phone confirmation of the win, Ruth, 44, and husband Rob, 48, decided to go swimming instead.
Ruth said, “It was clearly all we could think about as every so often, Rob would stop swimming and say, ‘what if it is real?’”
As the couple drove home from the pool they talked about what they would do if they really had won £1Million. She said, “When we finally called The National Lottery, they asked me what I could see and then they confirmed we were millionaires! We were just stunned and started crying.”
When they got home, Ruth and Rob woke their children to share the incredible news. After that they went across the road to tell Ruth’s parents. It just happened to be Ruth’s father’s birthday – one he is unlikely to forget.
Ruth and Rob also intend to help her parents add an extension to their home. Ruth said, “My parents look after my sister who has additional needs so an extension will mean everyone can get a proper night's sleep!”
A few more treats are in the pipeline. Ruth and Rob’s daughter has asked for a summer house she can use as an art room and their son has a custom-built gaming computer on order.
Ruth said, “This win means so much to us as a family!”
