"I Know the Boys” who won the Lottery

A syndicate of ten factory workers, from Newbridge in Edinburgh, are celebrating after winning £85,054.40 on EuroMillions.

The syndicate named themselves ‘I Know the Boy’ after a long-running joke in the factory where they work based around the response they all give when their boss asks them who is doing what.

Syndicate leader Alan Graham explains, “When we’re at work the boss often asks who did what and we always respond with ‘I know the boy that did that’, it’s a silly joke but it always makes us laugh so we thought it made the perfect syndicate name – we can now say ‘we know the boys who won the lottery!’.”

The syndicate, who have won £8,505.44 each, have been playing together for ten years. Over the years they have had a few small wins however this is the first time they have won a big prize and believe they could have the syndicate leader Alan’s wife to thank.

Alan said, “My wife always buys our ticket in the same shop in Livingston every week but she bought this ticket in West Calder. Changing her routine has won us a fortune so I suppose I better spoil her rotten with my winnings!

“I set up the syndicate and a couple of people have come and gone over the years, but most of the members have stayed the same. I sent all the members a text message to let them know, but at first they thought I was winding them up. However, they soon realised this was no joke and we had actually won! It was such a great feeling to be able to share the news and we have already been out celebrating together.”

“This win will make such a difference to so many people, we all couldn’t be happier. We will definitely continue playing and I’ll make sure my wife keeps going back to West Calder for the tickets!”
