The Prices are gloriously “gobsmacked” after £1M win

David Price is on top of the world after his £1Million win, and he’s going to use some of his winnings to visit the top of the world (well almost) with a trip to Mount Everest Base Camp next year.

David’s win will easily cover the £3,000 cost, with plenty left for other travels – including a holiday with wife Lynne.

The win came as a bit of a shock to David, who works for British Airways in Pontllanfraith, Wales. A colleague suggested he try his luck with the local football club’s competition with a £5000 prize, which reminded David to check his EuroMillions tickets.

Using The National Lottery app he scanned his tickets for Tuesday 29th October’s draw and discovered his win.

He said, “Quite simply, I was gobsmacked.” With an hour left of work he went around friends and colleagues asking them to double check his win. He said, “I didn’t get much done in the last hour, but stayed on even when my manager told me to go home if I wanted to.”

David’s wife Lynne, who runs the laundry service at a local residential care home, was similarly shocked. She thought David was winding her up. Checking for herself she discovered an £8 win on one ticket and £1Million on the other. Plans are already underway to realise Lynne’s dream of a holiday in China.

David’s not the first person in his family to win a National Lottery game. In the ‘90s his sister, Judith, won £3,000 as part of a factory syndicate. David said, “It is pretty amazing to have two winners within one family.”
