Ceri’s EuroMillions hunch leads to £1M ‘pot of gold’

Ceri Ann Roscoe-Roberts woke up on a Friday morning with a strong feeling she needed to buy a National Lottery ticket.

Fortunately, the mother-of-five from Bangor didn’t ignore her instincts. Rolling over in bed, she grabbed her phone and bought a EuroMillions ticket online. Twenty-four hours later, she was celebrating becoming a millionaire!

The 42-year-old certainly seems to have good instincts. When she woke up the morning after the special EuroMillions draw on 3rd November, she had another strong feeling – this time, that she’d won a big prize.

Ceri said, “There was just something telling me when I woke on Saturday morning that I had won big on The National Lottery. It was the strangest feeling ever! I picked up my phone and looked at my emails and there was one saying there was news about my ticket.

“I logged into my National Lottery account and there was the confirmation – I was indeed a millionaire! I had to pinch myself as I thought I was somehow in the middle of a dream and none of this was actually real.”

Ceri’s first reaction was to turn to her husband Paul and scream, ‘we’re millionaires!’. Paul double checked the numbers and realised she was right.

Ceri, a registered manager of a domiciliary care company and Paul, 45, a golf course manager, have no plans to give up work. But they do have plans to buy a larger house and treat themselves to a new car each.

The new house will give them space for the latest addition to their family, a Cocker Spaniel. The couple already have 2 Labradors and Paul wasn’t sure they had room for a third dog when Ceri brought the new pet home a week ago.

Ceri said, “Paul went crazy and said we had no room for another dog – I said we would make room! Never did I believe one week later I would be in the position to buy a new house and have an extra special room for our new addition to the family.”

Paul, a keen golfer and member of Conwy Golf Club, has already splashed out on a new set of clubs. Meanwhile, Ceri is still coming to terms with her incredible win.

She said, “There are just so many emotions right now, I still keep saying to myself, ‘OMG, have we really won? Is it really us?’. I always hear about people winning on The National Lottery and I am so happy for them. You just never think it is something which will ever happen to you, but it has!”

Ceri doesn’t always play The National Lottery, but likes to buy an occasional ticket as it is her way of giving to charity through the money which is raised for Good Causes.
