Winners

It’s all about the family for £105Million winners Steve and Lenka

Steve was waiting for a colleague to pick him up for work when he discovered that he and his family had won £105,100,701.90.

He didn’t know that the massive EuroMillions jackpot had been won by a UK player when he started to check his ticket. Sitting at home, on his own, he looked at his 3 lines, comparing them to the winning numbers.

Steve said, “I am not sure I even looked at the first 2 lines, the third one just jumped out and I could instantly tell they all matched. I started shaking a lot. I knew it was a really big win but didn’t know what to do. I went out to my van, walked back in, thought about knocking on a neighbour’s door, went back to the van – I think I was on the verge of having a heart attack.”

After collecting his thoughts somewhat Steve decided that he had to tell his wife, Lenka, who works at a local shop. She said “As soon as he walked in I thought something was wrong and he said he had to talk to me immediately.”

The couple went out to Steve’s work van where he shakily handed Lenka the ticket. She checked it, scanned it in the National Lottery app and she thought it was £105,000. She asked if they could go away for Christmas but Steve had to point out that the win was far more than that.

The couple’s children have made some modest requests with their eldest son asking for a bedroom to himself and their daughter is hoping for a pink iPhone. Their other son is hoping for a Tesla, but he’s only 10!

Steve says he’s going to be “sensibly generous” with his win. The couple live in a small village and he says they’d like to stay there. They’ve got plans to help family with property purchases and, of course, they’ll be able to see Lenka’s family in Slovakia more often.
