Great grandad scoops £13.5M Lotto Quadruple Rollover

Three different people predicted a big win for Peter Congdon after he banked small Scratchcard wins three days on the trot. Little could he believe it when his luck resulted in a £13.5 million Lotto win.

The great grandad from Truro was collecting his Sctratchcard winnings when someone in the shop said, 'Make sure you buy a Lotto ticket because if anyone wins that rollover, it's going to be you'. He reveals, "I had two more very similar comments that afternoon and they were right; it was definitely my lucky day."

Peter has played regular numbers since Lotto began and immediately recognised the mixture of birthdays, anniversaries and lucky numbers. He said, "I thought I might have won £25, then I realised I'd matched six numbers and there was only one jackpot winner so I ran straight down to my daughter's house and asked her to double check. Needless to say, I didn't get much sleep that night."

Peter, a widower, is looking forward to celebrating his win with his family which includes three children, 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild, who all live nearby. He already has an eye on a new Land Rover Discovery Sport as a treat for himself.

He said, "I've always wanted a Land Rover so my daughter and I headed straight to the local showroom to book ourselves a test drive. If it goes well, I'll hopefully buy one for each of us. My other children won't be left out; I'll treat them to new cars as well."

Peter is very active in his local community and, as well as being a city councillor, he runs bingo in the community centre three times a week and helps out with family services. He has also helped secure National Lottery funding for the Trelander & St Clements Community Association across a number of projects, including the building of a brand new community hall on the Trelander Estate, worth in total £378,709.
