Life changing
The Tyneside Trowels syndicate

There's 'mortar' life for lottery-winning brickies

A group of seven house builders have seen their regular numbers lay the foundations for a lovely Lotto win. The 'Tyneside Trowels' are celebrating with a tidy £69,283 win playing online at The National Lottery website.

Team leader, Graham Hartley, said, "The syndicate has been going ever since the lottery started. Three or four of the members have been in since the start but the rest of us have tagged in and out, taking over other people's lines when they have left the business. We always play the same numbers and have won a few quid here and there but never anything this big before!"

Graham described the moment he found out they had won as 'unbelievable'. He said, "I got a phone call from one of the lads on Thursday morning. I thought he must be calling to ask for some holiday, so when he said we'd won the lottery, I thought he must be winding me up! We're all over the moon about the news."

Tyneside Trowel members have yet to make to make firm plans for how they intend to spend their winnings, though a holiday to Rhodes, kitchen renovation and a new guitar – a Gibson Les Paul – are top of the shortlist for some of the group.

Graham concluded: "We haven't won enough to quit work, but it's still a life-changing amount. It'll make life a little more comfortable, mean we can enjoy a nice trip away or splash out a bit on something for our loved one – things like that. The peace of mind a little bit of extra cash gives you is fantastic and is an opportunity for us to really live life to the full."

The National Lottery has been changing the lives of winners and supporting good causes across the UK since 1994. In that time, there have been more than 7,000 new millionaires created and by playing The National Lottery you raise over £4 million for Good Causes every dayΔ.
