Rock music and open road for £4Million Lotto jackpot winners
Jon Waring loves nothing better than the sound of rock music and Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Now the 57-year-old from Paignton is set to ‘turn up the volume’ after scooping an incredible Lotto prize of almost £4Million.
Jon already has his eyes on a Harley-Davidson trike bike, whilst his wife Lucy, 48, can’t wait to take the plunge and buy a hot tub. The couple, who have a 15-year-old daughter, will also be looking for a new home now that the £3,966,543 Lotto jackpot is safely in their bank account.
Jon admits he’s still coming to terms with the huge win, which saw him match six numbers in The National Lottery Lotto draw on 31st May 2025. He said, “I keep thinking I am going to wake up from a dream!”
Music is a big part of the family’s life and they’re looking forward to creating a room in their new home devoted to playing and listening to music. The music room will also provide a home for their collection of guitars.
Jon said, “As a family, we love rock music and now the world really is our oyster – we hope to get the chance to attend gigs up and down the country. This win will just enable us all to slow down, enjoy life – and of course hit that road on the sunny days ahead on our new trike!”
Recounting the story of his amazing win, Jon said he woke up at 4am the morning after the draw to discover he’d become a National Lottery millionaire. He said, “Something just made me check my emails and I saw a message saying I had won a prize!
“I went to Google the winning numbers, noticed there was just one winner and knew it must have been me. I couldn’t believe it; I knew they were my numbers! I turned my tablet off – left it five minutes – and then turned it back on to double and triple check. I woke Lucy and she said, still half asleep, ‘is it April Fool's Day’? I said ‘no, it’s June’!”
Unable to get back to sleep, Jon and Lucy sat in bed, chatted and drank countless cups of tea.
Jon, a keen rugby fan, is also looking forward to watching Exeter Chiefs from a box and taking a trip to see the Lions tour. He’ll also be buying a new car, an Audi Q7.
He added, “It’s a complete change of lifestyle – it won’t change us, but it will change what we can do! And the pace at which we do it too.”
The family will also be taking some long-overdue holidays. Jon said, “We have not had a proper holiday together for a long, long time. We are really looking forward to booking something and knowing we can just go away when we choose! It might be a trip to New Orleans for the music.
“It’s all the things you dream about trying and seeing but know you never will – until something like this happens!
