Lotto jackpot winner Sally Wells

Missing millionaire found

Sally Wells returned home from holiday to read about an unclaimed Lotto jackpot of £1.4M in her local area. Two cups of tea, and a lot of ticket checking later, she discovered that she was the missing millionaire.

Sally from Ramsgate and her partner Jerry Gregory had won in the draw on Saturday 2 August but didn’t realise until a month later.

“I always play Lotto on a Saturday, but I’m always forgetting to check them,” admitted Sally. “The story about an unclaimed ticket in the area prompted me to check my tickets on our kitchen pin board. I made a cup of tea and was chuffed when a ticket from June was worth £25, so you can imagine how overjoyed I was to find that the ticket from August was worth over a million! I had to make another cup!”

Sally and Jerry had been away on holiday in France, but she admits to not regularly checking her numbers, “I don’t let it go six months, but I don’t rush to check them. I always think of Lotto as my weekly flutter and a little bit of fun, never in my wildest dreams did I think it would lead to this!”

The National Lottery had issued a call to players, who had bought their ticket in the District of Thanet, on Tuesday 19 August, but had heard nothing a fortnight on. Patrick Lisoire who issued the call said, “It was holiday season so we always hoped it would be a nice surprise for someone after they got off the plane or ferry. We urge all players to check their tickets regularly, and if you are forgetful you can always play online where the ticket is checked for you. Imagine being a millionaire and not even knowing!”

The National Lottery has been changing the lives of winners and supporting good causes across the UK since 1994. In that time, there have been more than 7,400 new millionaires created and by playing The National Lottery you raise over £4 million for Good Causes every dayΔ.
