Scratchcard bought on a whim

Tina Chase bought a National Lottery Merry Millionaire Scratchcard on a whim on Christmas Eve and couldn't believe her luck when she revealed the massive win.

Tina told her husband David and once she'd convinced him it wasn't a wind up, or a mistake, he put the Scratchcard in his wallet for safe-keeping over the Christmas holiday.

Tina said, "Christmas passed by in a bit of a blur to be honest. We had a little celebration in our local pub the night we found out that we’d won but after that we decided to put the celebrations on hold until we had the money in the bank."

"It was actually going to be a bit of a subdued Christmas for us this year because we had a couple of big vet's bills in December, when one of our four Jack Russells was taken ill and things were a bit tight. Now though, I plan to make up for it in 2015."

Tina and Dave have three children and two grandchildren and they’re going to treat them all to something special to celebrate the win. They've even started planning a trip to Disneyland Paris with their grandchildren to mark their granddaughter’s second birthday.

The couple, who have both had health problems in the past, are also hoping to make some changes to their own lives.

"I used to work three jobs but at the start of the year I had three Achilles operations which meant that I had to retire early," revealed Tina. "My foot still isn't fully recovered but one of the first things that I’m going to spend some money on is a personal trainer because I really want to get fit."

"We’re also going to treat ourselves to new cars. David has always wanted a Range Rover Sport and I would like a Mini Cooper."
