Forklift driver forks out on new cars after £1Million win

Can you imagine how you’d feel watching your bank balance go from £12.40 to £1,000,012.40 in the blink of an eye? Builder Adam Lopez can after winning a £1Million National Lottery Scratchcard prize.

The 39-year-old from Norwich describes the moment he got a £1Million boost to his bank balance as a “real pinch me moment!”. As soon as the money was safely in his account he took a screenshot to help him remember the life-changing moment.

Adam, who usually drives a forklift at work, has bought himself his dream car, a Range Rover Sport. He’s treated his mum, Danica, to a Range Rover Evoque.

He said, “Sadly we lost my dad eight years ago. He always said that he’d take care of us and I think in some way this win came from him. So, when I treated myself to my dream car, I knew I had to make mum’s dream come true too. Seeing how happy it made her when she got behind the wheel was even better than when I found out I had won!”

Adam has also booked a family holiday to Barbados for himself, Danica and stepdad Andrew. He said, “Never in my wildest dreams did I think this would happen to me, I feel so blessed. I’ve given myself a budget to have fun, a pot to treat people I love and the rest I’m saving for the future.

“The trip to Barbados is going to be amazing and I’m also hoping to visit friends in New York. Who knows, I may even book a first-class ticket as I’ve always wanted to turn left on an aeroplane. Thanks to this win, I can make that dream a reality too!”

Recounting his big win, Adam said his first impulse after realising he’d become a National Lottery millionaire was to hide the winning Scratchcard in his glove box. When the good news sunk in, he raced home to tell Danica.

Adam said, “I stopped to pick up a drink and bought a Scratchcard at the same time. Once in the car I played the Scratchcard. When I saw the £1Million I didn’t know what to do with myself, so shoved the Scratchcard in the glovebox without even thinking. I always thought I’d scream if I ever won big, but when it actually happened I was stunned into complete silence!

“My mind was racing with what this would mean for me and my family and the things I could now pay for. I had to get home to tell my mum and call The National Lottery to confirm it was real.”

Adam made the all-important call with Danica at his side. He said, “Mum didn’t believe it was real so together we called the number on the back of the card. Making that call, whilst my mum bounced around the room, really is the best call I’ve ever made!

“It was the most surreal moment when the lady from The National Lottery confirmed that I was a millionaire! My mum went off like a balloon she was so excited for me!”
