£90,000 top prize Scratchcard win for Charlbury couple
Christmas came early this year for a Charlbury man, when his wife bought him his first-ever brand new car.
Martin Tompkin had popped out for supplies from the local shop when he bought a National Lottery Lucky Deal Scratchcard for his wife and one for himself. Unlike Martin, Yvonne didn’t scratch it off immediately.
She said “I was so busy cooking tea, I didn’t really think anything of it until after when I revealed three aces. I realised this meant a big prize but I just couldn’t get my brain to make sense of it.
After all, it’s not every day you ask your husband to pop out to buy some frozen chips and you end up £90,000 richer!
Yvonne won the £90,000 top prize on a National Lottery Lucky Deal Scratchcard. That night she slept with the card under her pillow to keep it safe.
Once the win had been confirmed by Camelot, Yvonne wasted no time in treating Martin to an early Christmas present – a shiny new Ford Titanium C-Max. Yvonne said, “I can honestly say that was the best feeling in the world. Martin has never had a new car, and to be able to walk into that showroom and tell him he could pick any car he liked was like all my best Christmases rolled into one. He has been beaming ear to ear ever since so clearly it’s been the perfect early Christmas present for him too!”
Martin, who is a busy handyman for a local care home group, is over the moon with his early Christmas present. He said, “I can’t believe a bag of frozen chips has led to this! I drive a minibus for three local care homes around the county so I spend plenty of time behind the wheel but with that and my old car, driving definitely was a means to an end. Now I feel like I’m cruising about in a Rolls Royce, it’s the best Christmas present ever!”
