Merry Christmas Everyone

This Christmas it could be you

Fall in love with our Christmas ad, a heartwarming festive tale made by Oscar-winning director Tom Hooper (The King’s Speech).

Our National Lottery love story is the centrepiece of a campaign inviting the nation to come together this Christmas. It begins with a chance meeting between 2 strangers travelling by train to spend Christmas with their families.

When the train reaches the woman’s destination, the man scribbles his phone number on the back of a National Lottery ticket. The scene seems set for Christmas romance until she realises the number is smudged. Can our heroes reconnect or will true love miss its station? Watch the ad to find out.

The ad was made by Tom Hooper, the Oscar-winning director of The King’s Speech and Les Misérables. In a sense, it brings Tom and The National Lottery full circle as The King’s Speech – the film that earned him the best director Oscar in 2011 – was made with the support of National Lottery funding.

The National Lottery's Big Bash

The ad, set to a cover of George Michael’s Faith performed by Sleeping At Last, is just one of the many ways The National Lottery is bringing the nation together this Christmas. We are also hosting The National Lottery’s Big Bash, an amazing end-of-year party featuring some of the biggest names in entertainment.

Ho, ho, how much?

In the meantime, here’s a few amazing statistics to remind us all that this Christmas it could be you:

– Last December was extra special for 27 of our players who became National Lottery millionaires.

– Forget the turkey...6 per cent of our big festive winners celebrated with a takeaway.

– Pop the kettle on! 55 per cent of our winners celebrate with a cuppa.

– Not such a silent night, as 13 per cent of National Lottery millionaires screamed when they found out they’d won!
